Aamir Khan's Talaash: Rumours, rumours, rumours

Aamir Khan doesn't need rumours, baseless allegations and sensational marketing gimmicks to make his films work at the box office. He's a brand in himself and every film he does has his signature finesse to it. So why is it that Aamir's forthcoming release Talaash found itself embroiled in a number of controversies. We take a look at the various rumours floating about the Reema Kagti's production.
A section of the media had gone overboard by declaring that the advance booking of Talaash has started already. It was also reported that this was Aamir's unique strategy to rake in more moolah and all the shows have been booked even though the film is releasing on November 30. Ultimately, we got to know that this news was a figment of somebody's hyperactive imagination.
Rumour mills were in full swing when it was reported that a brand new theatrical trailer of Talaash will be attached to the prints of Salman Khan's super-hyped film Ek Tha Tiger. "We are in the process of finalising the second trailer. It's not arriving with Ek Tha Tiger. On the contrary, it will be launched next month," clarified producer Ritesh Sidhwani in an interview.
It all started a couple of months ago when BollywoodLife decided to celebrate April Fool's Day in style. And keeping in mind the core idea behind April 1, we speculated about Rajinikanth agreeing to do an item song for Aamir Khan's Talaash for a sum of Rs 15 crore. Clearly, it was a joke, one that we categorically mentioned in the article. But many stories were inspired from that piece and Rajinikanth's spokesperson had to clarify that there was no such item song in the making.
A report suggested that an argument between Aamir and Talaash director Reema Kagti over some scenes. Apparently, Aamir wasn't particularly happy with certain portions in the film, and wanted them re-shot. Reema purportedly refused to make any changes, as a result of which an angry Aamir said he would not be available to promote the film. Aamir refuted all these claims and said all is well between him and Reema.

`Joker` may be screened for India`s cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma

The makers of the movie `Joker` are leaving no stone unturned in terms of promotion, as they plan to screen it for Wing Commander (Retd) Rakesh Sharma, India`s only cosmonaut who flew on board a Soviet Soyuz T-11 as part of a joint Indo-Soviet space programme in 1984.

"The film is a science fiction family entertainer that we feel will be loved by kids. There are aliens from outer space. Cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to travel in outer space and it makes complete sense to try and contact him. We are in process of doing that," the movie`s director Shirish Kunder said in a statement here.

The movie`s plot revolves around a village called Paglapur which lacks basic facilities like water and electricity. When nobody is ready to solve the problem, Akshay Kumar creates a hoax involving aliens from outer space in order to attract attention to the village`s problems.

"Cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma made Indians dream about space and from then, we have tried to explore more about life outside earth. He is a legend. It would be great if we could show the film to him and if that`s not possible, then we would send him a copy of the film," he said.

Asin's new endeavor

Asin is generally known to dub in her own voice in all the movies that she acts in - be it Tamil, Telugu or Hindi. In one of her upcoming Bollywood movies, she is playing the role of a Marathi girl and in keeping with her policy, she would be dubbing in her own voice for this role too.

She has hired a Marathi tutor to help her perfect the language and the crew of this film is surprised by her willingness to learn and dedication to deliver.

She recently had a blockbuster in Bol Bachchan and her next film is with her Housefull 2 co-star Akshay Kumar. In this film titled Khiladi 786, her character's name is Kajal Tendulkar. She is supposedly learning Marathi for this role.

'Ek Tha Tiger' review: A typical masala entertainer!

What would you expect when Salman Khan, Kabir Khan and Yash Raj Films team up- a super masala entertainer, right?
After ‘Wanted’, ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ - yet another Eid release of Salman Khan - might just make it to the Rs100 crore club, courtesy his incredible fan following and an intriguing first half. But the film sadly falls in the same trap like other Salman films which lack content.

Salman Khan plays Tiger, a code name given to him by Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) of India. But the role of an intelligence officer has been manipulated to the core to befit a masala entertainer!

After a successful mission in Iraq, Tiger is now entrusted with the task of collecting external intelligence by spying on a Trinity College Professor, who has apparently been approached by the ISI for sharing missile technology secrets.

Tiger flies down to Dublin, the Irish capital, to follow the Professor. And that is where he ends up meeting his ladylove (Zoya) Katrina Kaif, the professor’s residence caretaker. Tiger introduces himself as Manish Chandra, a writer, and seeks her help in getting an appointment with the professor.

Zoya extends all possible help to a shelter-less Manish and befriends him. And that is when seeds of romance are sowed!

Though Tiger knows that he is on a mission and he dare not fall in love, he loses his heart to Zoya, who could act as a catalyst in providing information about the professor. Tiger is constantly reminded of his duties by Gopi (Ranvir Shorey), his colleague, not to lose his heart while on a mission but he does approve of Tiger’s choice of a Bhabhi for him!

Zoya, who also happens to be a dance instructor, invites Tiger for a show and here is where you would find a twist in the tale!

After an incredible ‘Kabul Express’ and somewhat gritty `New York`, a masala entertainer like ETT wasn’t expected from director Kabir Khan. Yash Raj Films has certainly spent a whopping amount on the exotic locations that are a treat to watch but haven’t helped the film gain a cult status.

However, the film does have superbly directed action sequences, foot-tapping songs by Sohail Sen and Sajid-Wajid, and a tinge of Salman Khan`s special comedy that does make you cheer.

And mostly importantly, though Salman and Katrina deny being in a relationship in real life, their chemistry onscreen looks every bit convincing. And the duo is an absolute delight to the eyes!

But over all, the film does disappoint you for it fails to deliver what it promised.

If you are a Salman Khan fan, you would love it for sure and the movie might rake-in the moolah because of the superstar! It will certainly entertain you if you leave your brains outside the theatre!

Son Of Sardaar confirmed for Nov 13 release

The festival of Diwali is always a big ticket window for our B-town folks. This year too, two biggies, namely Yash Chopra's SRK- Katrina- Anushka starrer and Son Of Sardaar starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Juhi Chawla, are slated to clash at the B.O.

However, as the release date of November 13 fast approaches, there have been some murmurs doing the rounds that this clash may not take place. However those are just rumours. Son of Sardaar is definitely releasing on November 13 and so is Yash Chopra's untitled film.

While YRF's film is still being shot, post-production work on Son Of Sardaar is already on in full swing in anticipation of a bumper Diwali day release. A reliable source confirms to us that Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt are currently dubbing for the film in Hyderabad and the entire creative and marketing teams are brainstorming on putting in place an innovative publicity blitzkrieg.

The production houses backing Son Of Sardaar namely Devgn Films, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and YRV Infra & Media have in fact paved the way for an all out release and have licensed the worldwide distribution rights to Eros International. The banners have kick-started their campaign in full swing to release the film with tremendous fanfare and go wide encouraged by positive reports from all their centers.

Well, this certainly puts a rest to all rumors circulating around the film for its release.

Being part of 'Heroine' was my destiny: Kareena

Actress Kareena Kapoor feels she was destined to do director Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine and says the film is very close to her heart.

Bhandarkar first offered the lead role to Kareena but she couldn't do it due to date issues and it went to Aishwarya Rai. However, Aishwarya subsequently opted out due to pregnancy.

And the film once again landed in Kareena's lap and she said: "Being a part of Heroine was my destiny. The first time I couldn't do it because I didn't have dates and second time I was happy that the film came back to me. I had no second thoughts about it and agreed to do it.

"I had a wonderful experience working on this film and it is very close to my heart. Ever since I watched Chandni Bar, I wanted to work with Madhur (Bhandarkar)," she told reporters.

The actress was in Gurgaon with Bhandarkar. Slated for a Sep 21 release, the film, which will focus on behind-the-scenes life of an actress, also features Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda.

Saif-Kareena marriage in October, says Sharmila

The Bollywood wedding of the year would take place in October in Delhi and Mumbai with no sideshows in Pataudi or Bhopal. 'Saifeena'- wedding of Saif Ali Khan and Kareeena Kapoor, would be a low-key affair with limited invitees said the groom's mother Sharmila Tagore, here on Tuesday.

"D-day is on October, sometime. I am not at a liberty to disclose the date. You'd have to ask Saif," she told TOI.

She related the hype surrounding the wedding to happy family serial. "You'd be disappointed. No extravagant celebrations are planned. It would be a small family affair," she said. The restraint on celebrations is because the wedding would be held nearly a month after the first death anniversary of Saif's father - Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

Sharmila said Pataudi wasn't chosen as a venue because of security considerations.

Sources said that that the wedding may take place on October 16.

Sharmila was in Bhopal attending the board meeting of the royal waqf properties called the Auqaf-i-Shahi, of which her daughter Saba Sultan is the custodian.

SRK plays action hero in Kashmir’s ‘strong arms’

For Yash Chopra's upcoming film, the actor hangs from a bridge and shoots midair, but takes a break from the hectic schedule to meet son before he leaves for London

After a grueling eight-dayschedule in Ladakh, Shah Rukh Khan arrived at the Srinagar International Airport on Monday. "My father's one unfulfilled wish was to bring me to Kashmir cos his mom was from here. Now I am here, it feels I am in his big strong arms," tweeted the actor. Within minutes of his arrival, he boarded a private chopper to avoid the wet roads and reached the hill resort in Pahalgam, south Kashmir. The crew of the film - including Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif and director Yash Chopra were waiting for him. On Tuesday, a difficult bridge blowing scene was planned. Sources from the valley told us how the unit planned to blast a bridge in Pahalgam.

Meanwhile back at the actor's mansion in Mumbai, his son Aryan was busy packing his bags to leave for London - mommy Gauri in tow. And if sources are to be believed, papa Khan did not let his son go off without meeting him. In the midst of the adrenaline pumping action sequences planned in the valley, and driving through the cold deserts of Ladakh, Shah Rukh, say sources, took a break. He flew down to Mumbai to see his son off to his school, Sevenoaks in Kent. In fact, the actor (perhaps on his way back from Mumbai) had tweeted, "Dark clouds, wet roads, too early for even life to feel alive but I am on my way to make movies."

But while Gauri was spotted leaving with son Aryan for London, daddy had to rush back to the sets in Kashmir - to shoot in midair as we can now see.

The doting daddy however, had visited his son's future school earlier. On June 14, Shah Rukh visited the institution, which is said to be one of the finest educational hubs for youngsters aged 11-18 years. And on August 4, Aryan's admission was finally done.

On Monday, August 27, Aryan was thus off to a new phase of his life. Far from the media glare his parents decided to keep him away from, Aryan flew off with mum. Close friends came to bid him a happy journey. Here's wishing Aryan a wonderful life ahead.

Don’t want a dubbing artiste: Esha Gupta

In her debut film, Esha Gupta's voice was dubbed, and rather clumsily at that. So, in Raaz 3, she has spoken in her own voice and redubbed herlines, helped by Hindi theatre personality and tutor Rakesh Tripathi.

Esha told TOI, "I speak Hindi fluently because my mother speaks onlyinHindiandUrdu.WhileIamno one to dispute the Bhatts' decision, in Raaz 3, I was determined to speak in my own voice. I did my lines with Rakesh'shelp. He'llcontinuetoguideme because there is still a Punjab it wang in my Hindi."

Commenting on those in the industry who think in English, Esha said, "We're in the Hindi film industry. It's important to have a command over the language."
