John Abraham has typhoid and Bipasha Basu has stress
The growing star, John Abraham was hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai (the same floor where Big B underwent surgery) on the night of December 7, 2005. Girlfriend Bipasha Basu was at the airport to receive John that day as he was returning from Afghanistan.
Bipasha is under a lot of stress these days as she is managing her own health, John’s sickness, her shootings and rehearsals for the MTV immies concert.
“John is fine,” said Bips, “The tests are done. The results will take some time. He is being treated for typhoid. I'm trying to juggle my shootings, concert rehearsals and the hospital. It's not easy since I'm suffering from a viral attack myself! In fact, John and I fell ill simultaneously just before he left for Kabul. At this point, I'm unable to come to terms with the sudden turn of events.”
Regardless of all the problems that Bipasha might have, she proved that she is a thorough professional on the sets of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Corporate. Nonetheless, Bhandarkar called for an early pack-up, seeing the level of stress Bips was in.
“She has been tense all day. But being a thorough professional, she didn't once let on that she was suffering. She has been working as usual all day. But she would withdraw into a shell after every shot. I hope for her sake John recovers fast,” said Bhandarkar.

For Preity Zinta, Salman Khan is ‘awesome’
For many, controversy’s favourite child Salman Khan might be a big time baddie, but for many others, he is a sweet heart and a best friend.
Talking to reporters about the song ‘Kudiye Di Kurti’ from her film ‘Ishq in Paris’, that features Salman, Preity said, “This song was always part of the film. It is situational and an integral part of the film. The only actor I approached for this film was Salman and he agreed. I think it is not correct to take crutches for anything in life.”
Preity has worked with Salman in `Chori Chori Chupke Chupke`, `Har Dil Jo Pyar karega` and `Heroes` and has been friends with him since then.

Sonakshi Sinha to romance Saif in next film
She has romanced Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in Dabangg and Rowdy Rathore. And now, 25-year-old Sonakshi Sinha has been signed opposite Saif Ali Khan, 42, in Tigmanshu Dhulia's Bullet Raja. Interestingly, for the film that is based on the UP mafia, the actress who has portrayed the rustic northern belle with elan in her previous ventures will be seen as a Bengali damsel.
"As soon as Saif returned to Mumbai, Tigmanshu had a lengthy meeting with him to discuss the heroine. He was very keen to have Sonakshi on board and was convinced she could pull off the role with ease," a source told TOI.
Sonakshi, on the other hand is excited about this new project. "She loves Tigmanshu's films and is looking forward to working with him," added the source. Apparently, the actress is excited to play a Bengali girl, which would be different from her village belle avatar in Dabangg and ' Patna ki phuljhadi' role in Rowdy Rathore.
Apart from Sonakshi, Jimmy Shergill, who has worked with Tigmanshu in Saheb Biwi Gangster, has also been brought on board.
Sonakshi whose film Son Of Sardar is all set for release this Diwali, has left for Muscat to shoot Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Part 2 along with Akshay. Bullet Raja, produced by Brandsmith Motion Pictures, will thus go on floors by November this year.

For me everything is a risk right now: Esha Gupta
Making her debut opposite Emraan Hashmi in Mukesh Bhatt's 'Jannat 2', Esha played a doctor in the movie, while she is essaying the role of an actress in Vikram Bhatt's 'Raaz 3' (to release on September 7) and a cop in Prakash Jha's 'Chakravyuh' (releasing on October 12), which explores the problems of naxalism.
"For me right now everything is a risk. But today if I don't take a risk where will I reach? It's not about playing safe or anything. Of all the options I had got I think whatever films I have chosen to do are best," Esha said in an interview.
"It was one of the best things to be working with a director like Vikram in 'Raaz'. Right now, it doesn't matter to me if it's a big or small role, because all three of my films are really different," she said.
Esha is taking every film as a learning experience with the different kind of roles that she is portraying.
"Right now what matters to me is the learning experience. I am not saying that I won't do big commercial films. All the characters that I have played so far have been very different," Esha said.
Shah Rukh vs Ajay Devgn war escalates
The battle between Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar and Yash Chopra's Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, both scheduled for a November 14 release, has escalated. Buzz was distributors had been told to book the same number of screens for the Shah Rukh-starrer as for Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger.
The fight turned ugly on Tuesday afternoon when distribution officials from Eros International and Viacom 18 started making calls to theatre owners, asking them to bypass the deal struck with YRF.
What's more, they threatened the theatre owners that in the event they didn't comply, four of the production houses' forthcoming films: Oh My God (September 28), Bhoot Returns (October 12), Aiyya (October 12) and Chakravyuh (October 24) wouldn't be screened in their theatres.
The distribution rights of Son of Sardaar, a joint production by Ajay Devgn and Viacom 18, were sold to Eros International in July to ensure smooth distribution of the film. The deal had been struck between Ajay and Eros' head honcho Kishore Lulla.
Inder Raj Kapoor of STV confirmed that calls were made to companies like Rahul Aksar Group, E City and themselves. Rahul of the Rahul Aksar Group said he didn't wish to comment on the matter.
A source from the exhibition circuit said, "We have been told to give priority to Son of Sardaar in our multiplexes and remove the blanket ban else..."
Asked if they intend to pay heed to the calls, Kapoor said, "We are yet to arrive at a decision on what to do and what not to do." But aren't these pressure tactics adopted by Eros and Viacom 18 unethical? "Well, Eros International and Viacom 18 say that Yash Raj Films is in the wrong. How do I take sides?" said Kapoor.
Meanwhile, a source from the trade said, "One fails to understand why Ajay is hell bent on releasing his film on the same day as Yash Chopra's film. Releasing the film during Diwali does not necessarily help. Ajay's Singham did so well despite hitting the theatres during the non-festive season. Or then, Yash Raj should shift the date. This war is no good for the industry."
'Raaz 3' costliest Bhatt film in years: Mukesh Bhatt
More than a decade after their last biggie "Ghulam", the Bhatt trio of Mukesh, Mahesh and Vikram is back with 'Raaz 3', which is the most expensive film they have made ever since.
"Not just in terms of production values but even scale, 'Raaz 3' is our costliest film. The requirement of the film is such that it had to be made largely on sets. We had to put more than 35 sets and that was not just very expensive but also quite ambitious on our part," said Mukesh Bhatt.
Bhatts have been known to be quite cost conscious when it comes to filmmaking but Mukesh, without revealing their budget, said any other production house would have ended up spending even more money on "Raaz 3".
"Our film is expensive but then I am sure that if someone else would have made it, it would cost them double the amount. Moreover, we have made the film in real 3D rather than converting it from 2D to 3D. We have utilised the best of technical expertise and got people from international arena who have supervised the quality of our work. Still, our costs never spiralled to unimaginable levels."
The film, releasing today, is being pitched as a Bipasha Basu comeback affair but Mukesh said the actress was cast according to the script's demands.
"The film's script demanded the casting of Bipasha; we realised that nobody better than her could have done the film. She is the most apt casting and fitted the role to the T.
"In the film she is playing a top superstar who is now losing out to a much younger starlet ( Esha Gupta). If you draw parallels to the real life scenario, today Bipasha has been in the business for ten years and on a threshold where she may be developing the feeling of losing out.
All the Khans love me, says Rani Mukerji
In the Anurag Kashyap written film, directed by Sachin Kundalkar, Rani plays Meenakshi, a spunky Maharashtrian girl who is ready to get married at her family's bidding but dreams about a fantasy world all her own. In Talaash, she plays a gritty, fiercely guarded character, where we'll see her "smile only once." And while she admits she did not expect Talaash to get so delayed, she tells us why she took up Aiyyaa: "I hadn't played a Maharashtrian earlier. Moreover, the role of Meenakshi was superbly exciting as she is mad and passionate, somewhat like me (laughs). The script was so refreshing that I just gave my go ahead." Rani goes to admit that even though she admires Anurag's work, she could never see herself being a part of his 'niche cinema.' In fact, when Anurag Kashyap narrated the story to her, Rani had quipped, "I won't come into your (dark) zone. This time, you have to come into mine (popular cinema)." The actor was so convinced about her role that she immediately green lighted Sachin Kundalkar, the two-time National Award winning filmmaker, who makes his Hindi debut with this film. "Sachin was the right person to do justice to this film. He knew the finer nuances and helped me better myself as Meenakshi," Rani says.
Aiyyaa comes at a time when when most of her peers and the younger actors are vying to work with the Khan trinity and be a part of the Rs 100-crore club. But Rani seems unfazed by it all, and insists she enjoys wonderful rapport with all the Khans. "I have no issues with any of them. In fact, both Shah Rukh and Aamir have taught me a lot. Shah Rukh has always been very supportive as a co-star and that helps you to do better. Aamir has been very much like a teacher to me in my career. In the initial years when I had joined the industry, he literally held my hand and taught me the ropes of acting. And even when I worked with him in Talaash, I still felt I've so much to learn from him and I am still a student. Salman is a good friend too. Because of all this, the bond I share with them is very different from that with the others. And I know all the Khans love me!" with a flash of her famous pearlies.

This is going to be a busy month for UPites, and no, it's not in preparation for a festival or any work-related engagements. Interestingly, the upcoming shooting schedule of 'Dabangg 2' in Lucknow and Kanpur has city folk playing host to friends and family from nearby areas, who're keen to drop by to watch the shooting!

"They were really excited when I informed them about the shoot of the Salman-starrer here," he says, adding, "Even during the filming of "Bunty Aur Babli" in Kanpur, I had relatives visiting us to watch the shooting, it was an entertaining affair at that time."

"I recently got married and my saali is a big fan of Salman Khan. I don't know whether Salman will be part of the shooting schedule in UP, but we're hoping that he makes a visit. I have some journalist friends and I have already requested them to take us to the shooting locations, whether in Kanpur or Lucknow," shares Wasif.
Event manager Manish Tripathi's cousins from Aligarh are also visiting him this weekend, so that he can show them some filmi action. "I have promised to take them for the shooting in Kanpur and Lucknow. I just hope I won't have to face any major difficulty while taking them to the locations," says Manish.
